Why schools should have more interesting subjects

Maths, Writing,Reading,Swimming. You should know all these subjects off by heart. Do you know why? Well, I do. This is because the school timetable is far too predictable. Today I will persuade you that schools need more interesting subjects. These are my 3 points:1st, you’ll have a better imagination, 2nd, you’ll be more excited about homework and 3rd, you won’t get B-O-R-E-D, bored.

The topic of my first paragraph may seem crazy, and all the same baffle you. But it’s really quite simple. Some subjects really DO increase your imagination. Like Astronomy. Haven’t you heard about the tale of Princess Andromeda who was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a monster by her parents and rescued in the nick of time by the warrior Perseus? The two characters I have named both have constellations. But listen to this: the two groups of stars lie next to each other in the sky.

Next, I’m going to tell you another point of mine. The main topic is homework. You know why? Because interesting subjects mean interesting homework. If one of your subjects is nature your homework would be stating the parts of a flower.

All right, you might not be entirely convinced yet, but I’ll seal off my argument with the main problem. I can explain it with 1 word: boredom. We need more interesting subjects because the others are boring. Probably one exciting subject is chemistry cos it’s full of surprises. Another reason is because the school timetable is too predictable.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that it is necessary to have more interesting subjects. 1st, you’ll have a better imagination. 2nd, you’ll be more excited about homework and 3rd, you won't end up getting B-O-R-E-D, bored.

Marigolds

Marigolds, also known as Tagetes, are one of the prettiest flowers, with colours as bright as the Sun. I am going to tell you the benefits of Marigolds in your garden, their habitat,and companion planting.

Benefits

Marigolds are really helpful as their smell drives away pests such as Aphids,Caterpillars, and white butterflies. Marigolds work like knights for your garden because they drive away pests from your other plants, too.

Habitat

Marsh marigold is a plant of marshy meadows, wet flushes and ditches, from the lowlands to the uplands. Marigolds grow where the air is moist and it rains a lot.

Companion Planting

Marigolds enhance the growth of basil, broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers, eggplant, gourds, kale, potatoes, squash and tomatoes. Marigolds also help watermelon as it deters beetles. Beans are bad companions for Marigolds.

Conclusion

Marigolds are very helpful flowers to your garden and I hope you have learned a lot.

Albert Einstein

E=mc2. What does that mean? Who invented it? Albert Einstein, of course!

Biography

Einstein came to the world on March 14, 1879 in Ulm, Germany. He spent most of his time in Munich. His father owned an electronics company and Albert learned a lot about sci+ol. He did not finish school in Germany, but ended it in Switzerland. Einstein would later move back to Bern, Germany and work in a patent office. Albert immigrated to the US in 1933. He was fleeing from the Nazis in Germany who didn’t like Jewish people. If he had stayed in Germany, he would not have been able to hold a teaching position at the university as a Jewish person. At one point the Nazis had a bounty on his head. In 1940 Einstein became a US citizen. Sadly, on 18 April,1955, he died from Abdominal aortic aneurysm.

E=mc2 and Einstein’s Theory Of Relativity

Albert Einstein had many discoveries as a scientist, but was most known for his Theory Of Relativity. This theory changed much in the way scientists looked at the world and set the foundation of many modern inventions such as the nuclear bomb and nuclear energy. One equation from the theory is E=mc2. In this formula, "c" is the speed of light and is a constant. It is assumed to be the fastest speed possible in the universe. This formula explains how energy (E) is related to mass (m). The Theory of Relativity explained a lot of how time and distance may change due to the "relative" or different speed of the object and the observer.

Passion Projects

At Kohimarama School, We do something called passion projects. It's a learning space that we do every Friday for 2 blocks(2 hours). This term the theme is art. I have decided to do wearable arts. The dress I'm designing is themed from a taniwha, a maori sea monster.The main part is some of those clear files covered with sands from different beaches in New Zealand. Under those is some sparkly gold fabric for that extra sparkle. The sleeves are pale blue with sparkles and the headdress  is colourful. The finished dress will be shown at the art gallery on the 20 September 2017.

Winter.Winter is the worst season of the year, especially this winter. If you really need to know what I’m doing , then here it is. I’m sitting under our old willow tree. Weeping.  Crying. Screaming. Now you must be wondering what I’m thinking, acting like this. Lucy has banned me from the house, for 10 weeks while she does her dirty work.  And to make matters worse, it's 11 pm. Anyway, I heard her muttering about dragons. Dragons? Crazy,right? At least I have Bunbun to keep me company. In case you are wondering, Bunbun is my stuffed-toy half-rabbit-half-ghost. Right now I’m in a mad mood. A sad mood. A smad mood. An I-hate-Lucy mood.

Tilly

Chapter 1

     Suddenly, Tilly heard a rustle in the bushes. “Is it an animal?” She thought. Finally, it jumped out. It was an unusual animal, with green frills on it’s head. It muttered something, but Tilly couldn’t understand it. She tried to stroke it, but it let out a loud squeak like a wound up mouse. A few minutes later, it gurgled,”My name is Greeny, and I am a plant dragon from the magical realm of DragonVale,”Tilly heaved a sigh of relief.

“I have come to find you since you are very famous at home, and I am very glad I have, because strange things are happening.”

“So that’s what Lucy’s been up to!” Tilly thought.

Chapter 2

“Great,” Tilly thought. “Now that Lucy tried to steal all the sweets in the universe, she seriously has the nerve to cause trouble in one of the worlds that were thought to be lost for ever?!” Suddenly, a small voice interrupted her thoughts. “ Um, Tilly?” It said. “I think Greeny is hungry.”

“Bunbun! I forgot all about you!”

The small ghost glided up to her. “But where do we get the food? Dragons have a special diet, you know.”

“ Oh, don’t worry,” The dragon gurgled “ I have a pack on my back full of it.” Suddenly, a loud yowl filled the garden. “AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Screamed Bunbun, disappearing from sight. A black cat came prowling into the darkness and lunged for Greeny. Luckily, she flew away. “ Mr Claw, come here,” said a voice severely. “ You know that you’re not allowed to chase birds.” It was Lucy, Tilly’s older sister and the complete opposite of her. The cat and Lucy disappeared behind the door. Tilly finally got the chance to open the pack. Inside, there was a note that said: Feed me and go! Tilly reached inside to grab some dragon snaps. The small snacks looked like daisies.

“Dragon snaps.” Muttered Bunbun. “I remember it from a book I read.” The small pieces of food looked like large daisies.  Nervously, Tilly fed Greeny the food. The small dragon gobbled it up. Almost instantly it grew into a large plant dragon with colourful frills.

Tilly and Bunbun marveled at the sight as they soared over the magical realms of DragonVale. There were tree dragons that had branches on their heads. The singularity dragons were ghosts appearing and disappearing mysteriously from sight. Bunbun almost got electrocuted from touching the shiny skin of the plasma dragon. Suddenly, Greeny called to them. “Come on, I want to show you why I brung you here. Tilly and Bunbun climbed on and soared above the amazing realm. Suddenly, a huge group of floating islands came into view.

“This,” exclaimed Greeny. “Is the Roar Of The Rift.” There was an island in the center which  had a castle. Lights flickered on and off and the odd shadow would come into view. Greeny began to tremble with excitement.

“Those dragons have been imprisoned in there for thousands of centuries. Believe me, this world is trillions of years old!” Suddenly, Tilly spotted more floating islands.

 “Are these part of the roar of the rift?” She asked.

“No, that big one on the right holds the collaborative breeding cave and the dragonarium. A dragonarium is a building with a catalogue on all the dragons in the park. This park is called Lucy’s dragon park,” Tilly suddenly realized that she was in Lucy’s Ipad. “while the small one on the left with many parts is the space habitat.”

Chapter 3

Suddenly, a piercing cackle filled the vale.

“I’ve come to steal all of you, pesky dragons!” A yowl followed the voice. And a cat.

“LUCY!” Thundered Tilly. “ HOW-DARE-YOU-KIDNAP-”

“It’s all up to me,” answered a very calm Lucy. “it’s my game!”

Mr Claw sent out some electric sparks(have I mentioned that cat has electric powers?)at the lightning dragon. It dodged them and sent them at the mirror dragon,whose mirrors sent them back at Lucy, who was already trying to survive the desert dragon’s elemental breath . Suddenly, she fainted.

Chapter 4

   Meanwhile, Tilly finally found her way through the giant castle at the center of the Roar Of The Rift. Soon, she spotted a very irritable Lucy.  Tilly built amazing habitats and bred new dragons, including an ultra rare hidden bolt dragon. Lucy’s dragon park became even more exciting and Tilly claimed it hers. Suddenly, a booming voice filled the vale.

“Greetings, Tilly,” it bellowed. “My name is Kairos and I am a legendary dragon, only to be found in the best parks. I am very happy that the rift dragons are all safe. I would like to present you the rarest dragon ever, Mountain Sun. Also, you have earned the sun and moon dragons. Thank you!”

I feel like I’m in a dream, and I don’t want to wake up. Lucy has been banned from the park for ever, which is great. The dragons are very healthy, so I can send them on quests. All the dragons are safe from danger, and my park looks beautiful with all the decorations. Lucy has been fainting all over the place, but I’ve been helping her. After all, she is my sister.
